I am a trained Primary School teacher with a BA with Honours in English. I taught for 8 years in the UK, in Nelson and Christchurch before taking a break to be at home with my three sons.
When my middle child was in Year 2, his teachers and I noticed that he wasn’t achieving the way he should be, and I started exploring Structured Literacy and its positive effect on children with Dyslexia. After my son was diagnosed, we started tutoring at Literacy Connections and the feeling of safety in his learning was overwhelming.
I have seen first hand the difference this approach makes, especially one on one. This journey has been fascinating and eye-opening and I’m looking forward to helping other children have the opportunity to succeed.
